Structural Integration · Boulder, Colorado

Work with gravity, not against it.

Over time, gravity compresses the body — joints stiffen, nerves become impinged, trigger points multiply. Common, but not inevitable. Through hands-on structural work and intentional re-patterning of posture and movement, we use the breath and the body's own pleasure response to create expansion from within. After several sessions, many clients describe the same sensation: like walking on a cloud.

Why this work

Most chronic pain has a structural story.

Each year in the U.S., hundreds of thousands of spinal fusions and over a million joint replacements are performed — often after years of pain that traces back to how we sit, move, and hold ourselves. Before surgery becomes the conversation, there is a great deal that structure-focused bodywork and movement re-patterning can address at the source.

Structural Integration works with the fascia — the connective tissue that organizes the whole body — to decompress joints, restore lost range of motion, and teach you to inhabit a new alignment.

  • Move freely again
  • Address chronic pain at its source
  • Access increased energy
  • Unlock your body's innate potential

The Work

One centerpiece, several tools.

Centerpiece

Structural Integration

Osteopathic-influenced manual therapy. A series of six sessions is recommended for most people — enough for full-body decompression and fascial unwinding, while we practice re-patterning posture and movement together.

  • Moves the soft tissue to support the bones
  • Moves the bones toward their functional ideal
  • Re-patterns movement by teaching you to engage within the new alignment
Tool

Deep Tissue & Myofascial Release

Working with the attachments of a muscle. Knowing where muscles attach allows for accelerated treatment and better self-care — and because fascia constantly reinforces whatever action (or inaction) we take, we can use that to inspire new movement.

Tool

Acupressure

Drawing on Traditional Chinese Medicine's meridian mapping. When an injury occurs, pressure along the related meridian creates flow and often reduces pain. And when a postural pattern isn't responding to structural techniques, it's often tied to an emotional response pattern — acupressure excels at moving those blocks.

Tool

Neuromuscular & Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points are spots of metabolic accumulation and fascial encapsulation within chronically contracted muscles. They refer sensation through the body and can show up as:

  • Numbness in the extremities
  • Headaches and dull, achy pain
  • Limited range of motion
  • Fatigue and dizziness
Tool

Craniosacral Therapy

Developed within osteopathy, in both biomechanical and biodynamic forms — each guided by intention and anatomical awareness. I use both to decompress the cranium and facilitate cerebrospinal fluid flow, which fascia at the brainstem often restricts. Deeply nourishing, with mechanical and emotional benefits.

The Pleasure Principle

Good news: this work should feel good. Releasing trigger points and large fascial compartments can be intense in the moment, but there's an important difference between good pain and bad pain. Good pain is followed by relief and ease — a sense of increased fluid and energy flow. Bad pain persists and adds compression.

And when your joints glide in an ideal position, it feels warm and pleasant — your body's own real-time positive reinforcement that you're on the right track.

Testimonials

What clients say

"After I was told I was 'aging in reverse' for the third time, I realized I should write Bruce a review. Since working with Bruce my entire body has relaxed and released years' worth of tension. I'm a more successful roller derby player and a better overall athlete… The deeper impacts have been mental and emotional; I am much more relaxed in my day-to-day life. His approach is personal, experienced, and informed, and he continually creates a deeply safe and calm space in which to mend."
Bronwen H. · Lafayette, CO

"Absolutely recommend bodywork with Bruce. He is incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive! I leave every session feeling like I am walking on air. Everyone I know has had transcendent experiences with Bruce's gifted hands."

Lydia L. · Boulder, CO

"As a holistic healer and bodyworker myself, I am very particular about who I allow to work with me physically and energetically. Bruce is a highly gifted healer and bodyworker and I can easily recommend his work. He does wonders for keeping me balanced, stabilized, and feeling my best."

Teresa J. · Ojai, CA

"I have Grade II spondylolisthesis and had sought countless forms of treatment over the last decade — chiropractic, acupuncture, physical therapy, yoga. None eliminated my symptoms. Thanks to Bruce, I was finally able to feel free from this pain for the first time in years. I have never felt such marked improvement over such a short time. He also takes the time to explain what he's doing and gives you tips for self-care."

Jared Y. · Santa Barbara, CA

"Bruce has been a critical part of helping me expand and maintain my active lifestyle. With my back fused L4–S1 and a recent knee replacement after two failed ACLs, I surround myself with the very best people I can find. Bruce has helped keep me pain-free with everything from cupping and muscle scraping to deep tissue work and myofascial release. I honestly don't know anyone else in his field who adds so much value."

Eric S. · Santa Barbara, CA

"Bruce has the unusual capacity to both intuit what is aching and connect my specific ache to a musculoskeletal cause. His massages feel fantastic, but because of his deep work and sage advice, they also last. I'm nearly 60, have run, cycled, and trained my whole life, and I've received thousands of massages — Bruce is absolutely the top of the heap. Immediate, lasting relief."

Greg K. · Boulder, CO

"My sessions with Bruce were some of the best bodywork experiences I've had to date. I came in suffering from whiplash headaches and his unique mix of techniques felt specific to my needs. His calm, professional, and nurturing demeanor makes the healing experience easy to slip into."

Caitlin L. · Ojai, CA

"Bruce is a thoughtful and talented healer. He applies the right amount of pressure to release the muscles, with an intuitive understanding of the body, and offers helpful advice on improving postural habits. Friendly and present. I highly recommend his services."

Sarah M. · Denver, CO

"Six months ago I had a slipped disk at T-12 from a workout accident — numbness down my leg, sharp pain in my back. After a month of physical therapy I still had symptoms, so my PT recommended Structural Integration. Bruce released a significant amount of tension in the first session, then we focused on realigning my pelvis, and he taught me how to decompress my lower back."

Ryan T. · Boulder, CO

"I went to see Bruce for recurring back and knee pain I'd had for a couple of years. After just one session I noticed a huge difference in my posture and less pain from old injuries. He was knowledgeable, calming, and even gave me tips to keep improving on my own."

About

Bruce Kenyon, LMT

Bruce Kenyon outdoors, holding a black-and-white cat

I've always been drawn to bodywork as a way to connect with people and facilitate genuine change. In 2014 I found the Massage Therapy Institute of Colorado (MTIC) in Denver, and from my first introduction to the school I glimpsed what effective hands-on work could do. I was drawn to both its mechanical and energetic dimensions, and witnessing emotional releases during sessions deepened my respect for the work — and began a long inquiry into how emotion and physical holding patterns intertwine.

MTIC's second-year program, focused on Structural Integration, became a genuine progression of my own structural and emotional state. That internalized understanding is what lets me help clients self-correct their own posture and gait. I've logged more than 1,700 hours of training, and since 2015 I've worked with private clients and clinics in Boulder, Santa Barbara, and Ojai.

I also hold a Master's in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University. The overlap between structural bodywork and somatic psychotherapy — how stagnation in the body's fascia and energy meets our emotional and psychological patterns — continues to shape how I practice. For my psychotherapy practice, visit Integrative Somatics.
